Best Sushi In Yokohama (That Won't Break The Bank)

We have a treat for you today!Kanesei is the best sushi in Yokohama - that no one know about!Yokohama Fish Market is located about 15min walk from Yokohama station and while operating as a regular market, also has 5-10 restaurants that use the freshest fish available! At the end of the little restaurant arcade is Kanesei. While the interior may be old and there may be a line right at lunch, the wait or atmosphere is worth it for the lunch sets they have! Our recommendation is the "Sashimi Boat" for 1350 yen.It includes miso soup and sides, and almost feeds two so is great value. They also have many other types of sushi and sets including cooked fish if someone isn't the biggest sushi fan!Google Map > https://goo.gl/maps/mzR3d1Xd6mrvvpEQA

Walking Course - The Old City Charm

Today we are going to get you active, and explore the old city of Yokohama.1. Motomachi Shopping StreetGoogle Map > https://goo.gl/maps/q3NSGCPVwhAqPybN8When Yokohama opened its port in 1859, the street was an area where shops gathered that were aimed at the foreign population living in the Yamate Bluff settlement, providing goods for daily living, but it later developed into a fashion street. The stone pavement that stretches for approximately 600 meters is lined with around 230 stores; long-established stores are famous for their Motomachi brands, such as the bag store Kitamura, the women's shoe store Mihama, the accessory store Star Jewelry, and the casual fashion store Fukuzo, as well as newly-formed cafes and shops. Twice a year, in the spring and autumn, the street holds the Motomachi Charming Sale, where Motomachi-original brand products are sold for a discount price. So that visitors can drop in to shop during a walk, there are ”pets' bars” where pets can drink water set up at various points, restaurants, and cafes where pets are allowed. It is a two-minute walk from the Ishikawacho Station on the JR Keihin-Tohoku Line.

2. Yokohama ChinatownMap > https://goo.gl/maps/hSbiC9iM6taXcA1X7According to the Yokohama Archives of History, American, British, and French immigrated to Japan along with Canton and Shanghai merchants. The entrepreneurs brought Canton and Shanghai people because of their communication skills - they were literate in Chinese characters and could read Japanese texts. These Chinese people built Chinatown including a school, hospital, stores, restaurants prior to the Great Kanto Earthquake. They worked as translators, interpreters, as well as chefs, barbers, and tailors. They were identified as Sanbatou – those engaging in three occupations. These were chefs, barbers, and tailors. Today, the heritage of these workers are the more than 600 restaurants and stores in a 2500 square meter space in the district.

3. Yokohama Bashi Shopping StreetGoogle Map > https://goo.gl/maps/KiDro8wfvryHihRAAVibrant covered shopping gallery lined with 130+ stores & stalls selling fresh & prepared foods.

4. Noge Shopping AvenueGoogle Map > https://goo.gl/maps/kLFdF6roEJwUoDnA7Nogecho, or Noge, is an old-fashioned riverside nightlife hub with tiny bars, vintage izakaya taverns, and low-key jazz clubs. Narrow, lantern-lit streets and the Noge Foods Alley are lined with casual restaurants serving soba noodles, yakitori skewers, or classic Yokohama-style hayashi beef stew. Nigiwai-za theater hosts stand-up comedy, vaudeville-style musical shows, and other rowdy Japanese live entertainment.

Dream Drive - Building, selling, and renting campervans.

“Whenever I recall and share childhood stories from growing up in the UK and Australia, they almost always begin with a road trip. I had to ask myself “why? why do most of my most memorable childhood stories begin with a journey, and why have I not been making these memories here in Japan? While working in an office in Tokyo for about 10 years, I came to the realization that many Japanese are traveling and experiencing RV road trips abroad in the United States, Australia, Europe, etc. but not doing so in their own country. Japan is in my opinion one of, if not the best country for free-spirited road trip travel as the roads are safe and there are thousands of clean toilets and onsen all throughout the country. My dream with starting this company was to not only build great campervans but also help put Japan on the global map as a top road trip destination.”
